One of the fine colour photographs (autochromes) taken by George Hubert Wilkins on the Quest expedition forms the backdrop to the permanent display of the Hope Cross at the Discovery Point centre in Dundee. Until recently, the Hope Cross stood atop the memorial cairn erected in May 1922 to the late Sir Ernest Shackleton by the crew of the Quest. Enlarged to fill the entire wall, the detail in this century-old image is remarkable, as well as, of course, the colour.
